Satellite internet

Satellite internet for events, on sites with no signal at all.

We bring our own uplink, so your connectivity does not depend on what happens to reach the field you are standing in. Starlink, 4G/5G, or both together. Which one depends on the site and your budget, and we will tell you which.

How it works

Straight up, not sideways.

A 4G router needs a mast within reach. Plenty of the best event sites in this country do not have one: estate woodland, moorland, a farm down a track, the inside of a Victorian fort. The usual answer is to stand in the one corner of the field where you get a bar and hope.

Starlink points at the sky instead. If there is a clear view upward, there is a connection, and the mobile network is irrelevant. Where a site does have usable mobile coverage, we can run high-gain 4G/5G alongside it with automatic cutover, so one path failing does not take the event off air.

It is not magic. Satellite needs line of sight, so in woodland the job becomes walking the site until you find the gap in the canopy rather than parking the dish next to the rack. We plan that at survey, not on the day.

Primary uplink

Three sites, no signal, all of them worked

This is not a capability we are describing in the abstract. Every event we covered in the 2026 season ran on a satellite uplink.

  • Fortified Rally, inside Paull Point Battery. Thick Victorian brickwork, signal ranging from patchy to none. 132 GB over three days across three isolated networks, zero outages.
  • Bailwood, 250 people in deep woodland with no mobile signal at all. Not patchy. None.
  • Cods & Sods, a camping field near Driffield. The pub had a line, the field had nothing, so we brought our own rather than leaning on the landlord's broadband. Over 120 GB in two days to around 60 guests.

What it means for your event

  • Card payments work. Traders take money, which is usually the first thing that breaks on a no-signal site and the thing they will remember.
  • Ticket scanning works at the gate, without someone running a paper list.
  • Your team can reach each other, though on a spread-out site we would usually pair this with two-way radio, which copes with trees better than any WiFi ever will.
  • Attendees stop complaining about signal, which is not the main reason to do it but does come up in the feedback.

Three ways to do it, and we pick honestly

That choice gets made at survey, on what the site can actually support and what your budget is, not on what we would prefer to deploy.

  • Starlink on its own. The default where the site has no usable mobile signal and a clear view of the sky. Highest capacity, works anywhere the sky is visible.
  • High-gain 4G/5G on its own. Where there is workable mobile coverage to grab, or where the site has no sky to speak of, or where satellite simply costs more than the event can justify. A smaller job does not always warrant a dish, and we would rather say so than sell you one.
  • Both together, with automatic failover. Where the event cannot afford to drop. If one path goes, the other carries it, and nobody at the bar notices.

Honest limits

Satellite needs sky. Dense canopy directly overhead, a deep valley wall, or a marquee roof between the dish and the horizon will all cause problems. That is not a dead end, it is a reason to run 4G/5G instead, but we would rather find it at survey than at 7am on build day. Latency is higher than a fixed line, which nobody notices for payments, browsing or messaging, and which does matter for some live broadcast work. If your event needs something satellite genuinely cannot do, we will say so rather than sell it to you anyway.

Where we cover

Because the uplink does not depend on local mobile coverage, a remote site is no harder for us than a town-centre one. We work from Hedon near Hull across East Yorkshire, the Yorkshire dales, moors and showgrounds, and Lincolnshire, with the rest of the UK quoted openly.
