Event WiFi hire

Event WiFi hire for festivals, shows and outdoor sites.

Temporary WiFi built for a field, not an office. Reliable outdoor-rated access points, separate networks for public, vendors and staff, and the same engineers on site from build to packdown.

The problem

A venue having WiFi is not the same as a site having WiFi.

This catches organisers out constantly. There is a broadband line in the building, so connectivity feels solved. Then the traders set up two hundred feet away in a field, the campers pitch behind the hedge, and none of them can get a signal from an access point that was designed to cover a bar.

Temporary event WiFi is a different job from office WiFi. It has to cover open ground, survive weather, handle a few hundred phones arriving at once, and keep a card terminal working while it does. That is what we build.

What we put on site

  • Outdoor-rated access points with seamless roaming, so devices hand off cleanly as people move around instead of clinging to a distant AP.
  • Wired PoE+ ethernet, Cat6 copper with fibre for the long runs, and wireless bridges up to a kilometre between zones where cable is not practical.
  • VLAN-isolated networks for organiser, vendor, staff, public and EPOS. They share a site, not a network, and they cannot see each other.
  • Per-vendor passwords and full usage logs, so you know what was used and by whom.
  • Branded captive portals on the public network, if you want the landing page to look like your event.
  • Fair queuing and per-client rate limiting, so one person downloading something enormous cannot flatten the experience for everyone else.
  • Continuous monitoring through the event, with throughput tested and signed off before doors open.

Where the internet itself comes from

This page is about getting WiFi across your site: coverage, capacity, and keeping the different audiences apart. The connection feeding it is a separate decision, and it is the one that most often decides what an event costs.

  • Satellite, where there is no usable mobile signal, which on the sites we work is most of them.
  • 4G/5G, where there is coverage worth using, or where a dish is more than the job needs.
  • Both, with automatic failover, where the event genuinely cannot afford to drop.
  • Your existing line, where a venue has one that is actually fit for the job. We will say so if it is.

Density, not just coverage

Coverage is the easy half. A single access point can put a signal across a field and still fall over when three hundred people arrive, because the constraint is how many devices it can hold a conversation with at once. We scale access-point count to expected attendance and the zone layout, then band-steer clients onto 5GHz where we can. At Fortified that meant the busiest AP carried 26 clients with most of the traffic on 5GHz, and nobody noticed anyone else was there. Which is the entire point.

The portal is a marketing asset, not just a login page

The public network needs a landing page anyway, so it may as well work for you. We brand it to the event rather than to us: your artwork, your wording, your sponsors if you have sold that space.

  • Your branding, not ours. Attendees see the event, not the supplier. We are quite happy to be invisible.
  • Sponsor placement. Every single person on site passes through that page to get online. There are not many placements at an event with that kind of guaranteed reach, and it is straightforwardly saleable.
  • Opt-in capture, if you want it. Email collection for event follow-up and future events, with proper consent wording rather than a pre-ticked box. Entirely optional, and the portal works fine without it.
  • A usage report afterwards. Device counts, peak concurrency, how the networks were actually used. Useful for planning next year and for showing a sponsor what their placement reached.

Where it goes

Festivals and live events, agricultural and county shows, motorcycle rallies, sporting and race events, corporate days outdoors, charity events, marquees and weddings, campsites and pop-up sites, and local club events that just need it to work.

If the site has no usable mobile signal, that is a different conversation and we have a page for it: WiFi where there is no signal. If your traders need card machines that stay up, see vendor and EPOS networks.

Where we cover

From our base in Hedon near Hull we cover Hull and East Yorkshire, the wider Yorkshire show and sporting circuit, and Lincolnshire, without travel charges. Further afield across the UK for the right job, travel itemised in the quote.
